Augustinian – we are daughters of St. Augustine, a great saint and Father of the Church. Our Order was founded in the 16 th century in Toledo, Spain, as a result of the reform movements promoted by the Council of Trent in all the Religious Orders.
In Mexico, we were founded in 1688 in the city of Puebla de los Angeles following the same Rule and
Constitutions, and over time, many others were founded in various states of Mexico.
Years later, other monasteries were founded abroad, like ours here in Kenya.
Our charism en the Church is: “To live in Community whith one Soul and one Heart directed towars God”. Our
vocation is wholly contemplative, a life is only for God and espressed through the continuous praising of the
Lord, constant prayer, generous penitence, silence and enclosure which is the physical separation from the
external world in imitation of Christ who moved away from the multitudes so as to intercede to the Father for
all of the people of God. This, therefore, is our specific mission by which we give spiritual support to the
evangelization of the Universal Church, and also the local churches where each one of our monasteries is
found, and we ask for the various needs of the world
We were called to come from México this Diocese of Lodwar by Mons. Harrington, who welcomed us in 2010
to his Church. Our mission is to offer our support of uninterrupted prayer in the apostolic work, which is
realized in this Diocese by spreading the Gospel for the glory of God and salvation of souls.
In order to support our community, we make hosts, vestments, church clothing, cookies and cakes.
