    The Members of the Association are the Congregations of Religious Women working in Kenya.

    The Association was commenced in 1962. At present there are one hundred and twenty member Congregations whose members are engaged in a variety of ministries throughout Kenya. The major decision makers are the Major Superiors or their representatives through the Annual General Meeting. An Executive Committee is elected during the AGM to carry forward the decisions. The Association has two main Centres, Tumaini and Chem Chemi ya Uzima. The Secretariat is situated in Tumaini centre. It also has an active Justice and Peace Commission situated in Westlands. In each Diocese there is a District Unit which brings together the Sisters in the Diocese.

    The Aim of the Association is to:

    • Promote the Spiritual welfare and development of Religious Women of Kenya
    • Foster communication and co-operation among the member institutes through meetings and programmes with due regard for their autonomy and different charisms
    • Promote collaboration amongst religious women as we work in collaboration with the Kenya Episcopal Conference to respond to the needs of the people of Kenya.    

    Objectives

    • To come together as a united group in-order to improve and promote spiritual welfare and apostolic effectiveness of the Association's members.
    • To address issues of concern within the autonomous congregations, the AOSK body, the Church and the country.
    • To help equip Religious women with necessary skills for ministry and leadership through programmes, workshops and seminars.
    • To encourage partnership of service between men and women within the Church.
    • To be able to speak with a unified voice in responding to issues related to justice, peace and integrity of creation.

    The Mission Statement

    • To respond to the needs of the Religious Women for solid holistic formation and education at all  levels for authentic witness, whilst being aware of various needs in the different countries, as well as providing Catechesis training.
